Personally, I still think the newly-developing “Chancla” democracy in the Land of LATISM was a little too hasty in electing our new “Chancla” Sheriff, Dan Perez (@danperezfilms)… but since I don’t want to be accused of being jealous (¡Celoso!) – I was up for the job myself for a quick minute – and since apparently the machete is not as powerful as the pen (you’ll understand in a second… just keep reading), it’s my due diligence as any runner up con clase (jajaja) to congratulate and welcome our new “Chancla” Sheriff oficialmente! Congrats Dan… hopefully you can bring some order to the LATISM Nation, although I wasn’t really aware that we were that out of control? In any event, watch your backs if you don’t want to feel the wrath and sting of a chancla flying straight onto your backside.
Now that that is out of the way, let’s make sure and recognize a couple of allies of this not-so-sore loser. Whether we will be law abiding citizens together, well let’s just say the jury is still out on that one.
Vianney Rodriguez @sweetlifebake (https://sweetlifebake.com)
She might inspire you to think about mostly good food and everything nice, but were she to join me on the other side of the law, de rebeldes, she’d surely give our newly elected sheriff quite a run for his money. Her paladar is quite impeccable as Vianney expertly shares her recipes on Texan, Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes that all have a personal twist of her own flavor. Not only does she do so on her own blog (https://sweetlifebake.com), Vianney, a student in Mexican American History, also brings her wonderful mix of cultura and cuisine to sites like NewLatina, Being Latino and Multicultural Familia, where she is a regular contributor. If you’ve ever seen the old western movies where someone bakes a key or knife into a cake and delivers it to a prisoner as part of some grand escape plan, well Vianney would be the chef! Just substitute a real cell for Twitter jail.
Liz C. @toughtsofamomy (https://www.thoughtsofamommy.com)
My friend Liz on the other hand would be the researcher, techie and product tester in the bunch… of outlaws I mean, were she to join us on the dark side of LATISM (insert evil laugh here… watch out Dan)! But in the meantime, she remains one of the most engaging and entertaining mommy bloggers online. When she’s not test driving new family-oriented products and sharing her expert opinion as a mother of three “Mexipinitos” with the world, Liz is taking care of business as a stay at home mom, wife, hermana, tia, sister-in-law, prima, etc., in Southern California. Personally, Liz is one of my favorites because she is caring, funny, honest and really just quite genuine as a human being. Follow her if you are not already doing so. It’s my honor to count with two such powerful guerrilleras on my side!
How the whole “Chancla” Sheriff ordeal got started
So if you’re wondering what the heck we’re talking about when we say “Chancla” Sheriff and LATISM Nation, democracy, etc., do not fret, there is no real revolution or uprising amongst our ranks and familia. Más bien, some of us have been having way too much fun together.
Here is a link to the brilliant piece “There’s A New Sheriff In Town” written by Gina Ruiz.
By the time it was all over at least this many of us had been dragged into the mix también!
@carogonza – developer of #ChanclaLaw101 and according to Gina the culprit of all this mess
@ginaruiz – author and instigator of the “Chancla” Sheriff elections
@danperezfilms – Newly elected “Chancla” Sheriff
@juanofwords – your truly and slightly frustrated runner up
@ergeekgoddess – La Diosa and peacekeeper
@AztecWarrior – would have been sheriff candidate who didn’t apply
@Chicano_Soul – the final might have been candidate who never entered the race
@AlmaMolinaDC – the sassy “chancla”-toting Latina who threatened to take of her earrings
Are there any other tweeps you believe should be in this list? Is it YOU? Tell us about it in the comments below and we’ll feature them/you in an upcoming Feature Friday!!
