Time to help our fellow familia affected by #Sandy

Still today there are 4 million people without power in New York City alone.  Many families had significant damages to their properties.  As you know Latinos have the highest number of families living in basements (I used to live in a basement while I was in college) because the rent is cheap.  We have heard from so many of them these days.  They lost EVERYTHING.  Can you imagine?

Now it’s time to come together and help.  Offer up your lunch ($20) or even your dinner ($40) and help a family out.  The LATISM-NY Chapter will be granting these donations to families that fill out this application.  We will also help some of the LATISM Bloggers who got stranded in Houston for 4 extra days and had to incur unexpected expenses.

Let’s show the power of Familia and how we can help each other in the hour of need.  Donate NOW using this widget:

If you are a blogger, please bring this widget to your blog and you’ll get to vote on which family gets the help.  Here’s the code:

<embed src=”https://widget.chipin.com/widget/id/5181d4018a2041ee” flashVars=”event_title=Latino%20Families%20%23Sandy&event_desc=Let%27s%20help%20our%20familia%20affected%20by%20%23Sandy” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowScriptAccess=”always” wmode=”transparent” width=”250″ height=”250″></embed>

Instead if you are a family in need, please fill out the following application for help and one of the LATISM Volunteers will contact you within 6 hours of your application.

I tried installing on Blogger using the widget tool and keep getting an error message that says “missing plug-in”.

    NEVERMIND! It worked! Gracias. :-)

And I can’t even see the widget on this page to donate… :(

MommyPowers!, keep trying different browsers, until you get the image of the widget. Once you do, click on the little button you see next to , then go to your blog and use whatever widget installation tool you normally do. Once you get the widget open, there, click in the space for the code and PASTE. That will transfer the correct code. I’d tried the code shown on the page, here, first, and that didn’t work. But the other way I just explained worked immediately.

Thanks, Ezzy- I will try that!
