Stem Cell Discovery Could help Regrow Fingers, Toes

A new study published in Nature has promising results for those who have lost a finger or toe. It appears that stem cells from the nail might be able to help regrow an entire digit. Using mice to test the theory and study the cells, scientists discovered that if the nail stem cells are present, regrowth can occur while a lack of those cells prevents it. It’s too early to literally start regrowing fingers or toes but scientists are very encouraged by what they discovered.
