Obama: Science education must be priority

science fair

It is possible that an education reform around the subject areas of Science can benefit today’s education system?  News about recent college graduate students who can’t find jobs in their fields because there is not a demand for them is very discouraging.  So if teachers are trained to teach about science, technology, engineering and math perhaps students can have a brighter future in this country.

President Barack Obama hosted the annual science fair in the White House and he promoted science and math education.  Barack added “We need to make this a priority,” Obama said at a ceremony honoring the winners. “To train an army of new teachers in these subject areas, and to make sure that all of us as a country are lifting up these subjects for the respect that they deserve.”

Barack is trying to have volunteer programs that are geared to bring technology teachers and business leaders in contact with students.  Barack explains that ” the science fair projects of today could become the products or businesses of tomorrow.”
