Daily Detox Practices To Keep You Young And Strong

You’ve heard it before: everything in moderation. But what about toxins in moderation? Or pollutants, antibiotics, GMO’s, chemicals in moderation?! The truth is that we live in an increasingly toxic world and there is nothing moderate about that. Your body is exposed to tens of thousands of them every day from the air, the water, the food, even your household products.  How do we keep all of that toxicity at bay and keep our bodies strong and healthy while still enjoying an occasional indulgence? As a coach specializing in detox I recommend my clients seasonal cleanses to allow the body to return to a more balance state and feel energized, healthy and strong. And in between these more complex detoxes there are plenty of daily activities that you can incorporate into your routine that will help boost your detox process every single day of your life

Here are 8 of my favorite daily detox practices:

Start With Vinegar

Start your day with a glass of water and a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar. The vinegar act as a potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic in your system. Make sure you drink the glass first thin and wait about 20 minutes to eat/drink anything else.  Drink a green vegetable juice in the morning, before breakfast and on an empty stomach. Juicing is highly cleansing and alkalizing to the body, nourishing your system without spending energy digesting. My favorite veggies to juice are kale, celery, cucumber, parsley, Swiss chard and Your skin is your largest elimination organ, responsible for shedding up to 20% of the total debris in your system. Sweating is one of the most effective ways to eliminate toxins and pollutants from your body. Make sure you shower immediately after abig sweat, or some of the toxins might get reabsorbed.

Scrape Your Tongue

Throughout the night, a lot of toxicity from your gut find its way up your digestive track up into your mouth, leaving a nasty-looking white coat on your tongue in the morning. Using a scraper after brushing your teeth can clear your mouth of excessive dirty and will leave your breathe fresh for hours to come.  This is a great practice that’s also pampering. Brush your skin with a brush before the shower, starting with the bottom of your feet and working your way up. It stimulates the lymphatic system, enhancing elimination, improves circulation and leaves your skin baby soft.

Eat Detox Friendly Foods

Support the liver and kidneys, which are organs with natural filtration systems, by consuming foods and especially herbs that are great liver and kidney supporters. Herbs like parsley, cayenne, cilantro, garlic, red pepper, lemon, turmeric, lemon, and foods like grapefruit, beets, cabbage, artichokes and sea vegetables are great options. Baths have long been used to boost the cleansing and healing process. Your pores naturally open during a bath, allowing impurities to leave your body and herbs and other healing ingredients to penetrate your skin easily. Add apple cider vinegar, Epsom salt, baking soda or your favorite aromatherapy oils to your bath and enjoy!

Avoid Perfumes and Lotions

One of the first measures of detoxification is prevention. Just like your skin if your largest elimination organ, it is also considered your second stomach. What you put on your skin is absorbed and in your bloodstream within minutes. Avoid putting harsh chemicals, lotions with parabens and perfumes on your skin. Instead, moisturize with natural oils like almond or coconut and use essential oils as natural perfumes.
