Faith, Business leaders encouraged by immigration bill

The DREAM act is a important aspect of the immigration reform because there are a lot of illegal immigrants in this country that seek an education.  What happens when they graduate from college and are not offered a job because of their legal status.

Gabriela Nieto was one of the lucky students that can accept a teaching position after graduation when she was granted deffered action on her undocumented status.

According, to the Department of Homeland Security Office of Immigration Statistics 11.5 million.  Speakers including Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, archbishop of Galveston-Houston, Bishop Janice Riggle Huie of the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, and Rabbi David Lyon of Congregation Beth Israel said the highest priority should be creating a process for undocumented immigrants to earn legal status and eventual citizenship.

The immigration reform will allow immigrants to have a driver’s license, pay taxes and have a background check.  If these people have followed the law while they’ve lived here and worked hard, why not include them in our communities?  Lets not punish them any longer.
