Eating breakfast may not matter for weight loss


breakfastFor many years people have been told not to skip breakfast because it speeds up peoples’ metabolisms.  Dieters have the notions that a healthy breakfast will help them loose weight.  A recent study suggests the “most important meal of the day” may not be so important – at least for adults trying to lose weight.

  The study had 309 adults participants who were split up into three groups.  The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition  found dieters who skipped breakfast lost just as much weight as dieters who ate breakfast regularly.

 Although eating breakfast may not promote weight loss it’s still recommended to have breakfast.  Keith Kantor, a nutrition expert and author says, “Skipping meals… and eating at random times throughout the day requires more of a thought process,” he said. “This allows more room for negative behaviors like skipping exercise or grabbing fast food due to lack of planning.”
