To celebrate and honor education, children from more than 75 countries will be at the United Nations on July 12th to mark Malala Day. July 12th is Malala Yousafzai’s 16th birthday and the courageous young woman who stood up against the Taliban is celebrating her birthday by addressing a Youth Take-over of the UN and delivering a speech to a global audience of millions.
When you consider that many kids in many countries are seen as uninterested or disconnected, this kind of event and initiative rather refutes that belief. We can only hope that Malala and her friends and supporters can bring about the kind of support that is needed to improve education around the world for all children and adults.
