Are you ready for tax season?

Really? Tax season? Already? Trust me, April 15th is one of those dates that seems so far away, and quietly sneaks up on you.  Next thing you know, it’s you and a box of receipts face to face… uy!

As a non-tax professional, believe me when I tell you that the best thing that you can do is to learn a few tax basics. For example, did you know that regardless of who does your tax return – your primo, el tio, Turbo Tax, or a CPA – you are responsible for the tax return?

That alone should give you pause, and a great reason to join us this Thursday as we talk about taxes with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Earn It! Keep It! Save It! VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) program tax professionals (@EKSDallas, or

They will have tax professionals on-hand, ready to answer your questions regarding your 1040 forms, Child & Dependent Care Credits, Education Credits and Schedule Cs up to 10,000. For example, is your dry cleaning something that you can claim on your return? What about mileage? The money you made from a blog post?

Being your questions, save your receipts, and let’s prepare for tax season – con tiempo!
