Avid video gamers are biding their time until the release of the new Xbox One and one aspect of that release will be the need to buy all new games. It would appear that at the present time, many or all games currently running on the Xbox 360 will not run on the new $500 console. To make the sting of the $60 price tag on new games a little less painful, Amazon will be offering an interesting trade-in scheme to gamers.
Initially, the promotion will go until Dec. 31 and is available for eight popular titles, including Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Watch Dogs, Need for Speed Rivals, Madden NFL 25, and FIFA 14. A user with a qualifying Xbox 360 title will send the disk into Amazon, wait for evaluation and then get credit. When all the dust clears, gamers will essentially be able to upgrade to the Xbox One version of their title for $10. Microsoft has said that when the platform is launched (likely prior to Christmas) there will be 50 games available.
This is a nice strategy to keep current gamers hooked on the platform, but no matter how you slice it, upgrading to the new model won’t be cheap.
