Thank you, Latism [from Un Techo Para Mi País]

On Monday, March 8th, 2010, hundreds of Latinos in Social Media participated in our Latism4Chile fundraiser on Twitter. For approximately 2 hours, our members opened their hearts -and wallets- while sharing anecdotes, news and words of hope for our sister nation of Chile.

Our fundraiser benefitted Un Techo para tu país, a non-profit organization led by young people from all over Latin America. The organization is powered on volunteerism, mainly but not limited to college students, who work on building houses for homeless people in Latin America year-round, not just during times of disaster. Besides Chile, they have offices in Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, República Dominicana and Uruguay.

In addition to their ongoing relief efforts on the ground in Haiti, the volunteers of Un Techo para mi país have been actively aiding Chile´s rebuilding efforts since the beginning. So far they have built 246 houses in Chile and their goal is to have 1,700 by end of this week. At our explicit request, all donations from last week´s fundraiser party have gone directly to fund relief efforts through one of their subsidiaries/offices in Chile, Un Techo para Chile.

Latism is once again, very proud of its members for such a beautiful display of solidarity. Our Latinos never let us down! We would like to thank each and every one of you who tweeted, retweeted, participated to help us raise over $1,000 for Chile, especially our generous donors:
