7/29: It’s our Latinos in the Workforce Party!

On the job search? Looking to take the cobwebs off your resume? Or simply want to see for yourself whether the grass really IS greener on the other side? Then you’ve gotta be at our next #LATISM party!

With the unemployment rate leading the list of worries for Latinos in the US [second only to the immigration situation], it’s more important than ever for us Latinos to get our proverbial “Shtuff” together [totally made-up word].

The statistics are alarming. According to an AP-GfK Roper Public Affairs & Corporate Communications Poll released in May: Six in 10 Latinos say it’s hard for them to get ahead financially and forty-five percent say they or a relative have lost a job since September 2009, compared with 30 percent of the overall population.

But WE have the powerful skills needed to turn this situation around: With Spanish now becoming the country’s unofficial second language, there’s now a tremendous demand for bilingual job seekers fluent in Spanish and English.

Join us tonight as we discuss the State of the Workforce and the Successful Job Search Strategies that YOU can start implementing TODAY to better your chances of getting a job in this economy.

With us, Murray A. Mann and Rose Mary Bombela-Tobias of @LatinosAtWork and a panel of human resources experts. You’l come out armed with strategies for better positioning yourself in this crazy job environment. They also have a few surprise presents for some of our lucky participants, including copies of their book: Barron’s The Complete Job Search Guide for Latinos PLUS an awesome grand prize: A coaching session or resume assistance with @LatinosAtWork!

You’ll need a Twitter account (free) to join the party. If you don’t have one, you can sign up now. Be sure to follow Elianne Ramos @ergeekgoddess before the party so you can follow the flow = When you get this many Latinos under one “cyber-roof”, it can get very crazy!

When you get to the party, say hi, introduce yourself, ask a question or jump right in on the conversation! Just use the tag #latism in all of your party tweets. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
